Nuno: Wolves tried and tried in Brighton draw

Nuno Espirito Santo insists you could not fault Wolves' effort as Brighton held them to a goalless draw at Molineux.

The struggling Seagulls set up ever so defensively to deny Wolves what would have been a precious win in their push for seventh - and a possible European spot - in the Premier League.

Diogo Jota hit the crossbar and the post while substitute Leander Dendoncker was twice denied from close range by Mat Ryan, sealing a vital point for Chris Hughton's men in their quest for survival.

"We had chances. We had combinations. We tried. We had a lot of the ball and tried to move with intensity," said Nuno.

"We had chances, but it was not to be. That's football.

"It's very difficult to break a team down, but we were able to break Brighton.

"We created situations from wide areas and inside, and Brighton defended well because their main objective was not to concede.

"It's up to us. I think we should do better in some moments. We had situations, but there was good goalkeeping, and then the ball that hit the post could go in."

The positives for Wolves are that their unbeaten run at home now stands at nine games in all competitions, and it was their first clean sheet since the 2-0 win against Cardiff on March 2.

"Our fans were pushing, the boys were trying. We always recovered the ball very, very high up the pitch," added Nuno.

"That requires a lot of effort, and the boys tried everything. There is nothing to say about that. The ball just didn't go inside of the net."
