Wolves skipper Conor Coady’s aim for 2020 is to keep on improving as he bids to start the New Year with a bang at Watford.

Nuno Espirito Santo’s side ended 2019 with a narrow, VAR-tainted 1-0 defeat at Premier League leaders Liverpool.

But now as they head into the match seventh in the table and in the last 32 of the Europa League, Coady is keen to start as they mean to go on at Vicarage Road.

He said: “(The aims for 2020 are to) improve and get better, as much as we possibly can.

“We have Watford now on the first and we will hopefully make that the start of a good new year.”

Coady was one of seven players that started the 3-2 win over Manchester City on Friday and at Anfield, 44 hours later.

Only Coady, keeper Rui Patricio and midfielder Joao Moutinho managed to feature for the full 90 minutes in both games.

The defender, who has not missed a league game since Wolves returned to the top tier, is relishing the schedule.

He said: “We are fine (physically)

“You want to play as many games as possible. Some people might tell you things about being tired but we are playing against Manchester City, Liverpool and Watford.

“They are brilliant games, games we all want to be involved in and we all want to play.”

But Coady is wary of Watford, who have enhanced their survival chances with two wins in new boss Nigel Pearson’s opening four games.

He said: “We have to bounce back really quickly (from the Liverpool defeat). At this time of year there are so many games. It is mad really but we have a massive game now on Wednesday against a good Watford team who are doing really well.

“We will recover, prepare right and make sure we are ready.”
