Wolves boss Nuno on standby to return to country

All top-flight clubs are meeting again via conference call, with this meeting expected to deliver something more substantial as to what will happen with the rest of the season.

A June 9 return has been mooted and if plans to return on that date, or any other, are announced, Wolves’ foreign-based stars are ready to move quickly.

Nuno is one of several from the club abroad at the moment with their families.

Midfielder Joao Moutinho has been spending lockdown in Portugal, and compatriots Ruben Neves and Ruben Vinagre have been in Portugal as well.

The Premier League are today expected to present a protocol to enable a return to full training ahead of games behind closed doors at neutral venues – England’s St George’s Park training base being considered as one.

Any moves, though, need to be consistent with public health guidance. Uefa has asked all leagues to communicate their planned restart – including the date of restart and the competition format – by May 25.
