Wolves keeper Rui Patricio not set for a long spell out
Wolves goalkeeper Rui Patricio is not expected to face an extended spell on the sidelines after taking a worrying blow to his head against Liverpool.
The Portuguese is understood to be fine following his collision with skipper Conor Coady in the closing stages of the 1-0 loss on Monday night.
Patricio was treated on the pitch by medics for 12 minutes before being taken off on a stretcher and replaced by John Ruddy, as per the new concussion substitution rules.
Wolves boss Nuno Espirito Santo then confirmed after the game that the 33-year-old was 'conscious' and remembered what had happened.
Patricio did not need to be taken to hospital after the match and was able to return home.
He is said to have been chatty and in a relaxed mood as he left Molineux, and was driven home by a member of Wolves' medical team.
The club have continued to monitor Patricio closely and are carrying out the usual post-concussion protocols, but the issue is not thought to be serious.
It comes as positive news after Wolves had star striker Raul Jimenez suffer a fractured skull at Arsenal earlier this season – the Mexican now aiming to feature again before the end of the campaign.
Patricio has been called up to the Portugal squad for their three World Cup qualifying games later this month but it is unclear at this stage whether he will go.
Fellow Wolves teammates Joao Moutinho, Ruben Neves and Pedro Neto have also been included in the squad for the matches against Azerbaijan, Serbia and Luxembourg.
Nelson Semedo, though, has been left out this time around.
Wolves are now not in Premier League action until they host West Ham on Monday, April 5 (8.15pm).
