Dave Edwards: I’d like to see Fabio Silva return and fight for his Wolves spot

At the end of the 2021/22 season, Fabio Silva was a really frustrated figure at Wolves.

He didn’t look like he was enjoying his football, or getting the opportunities. He looked visibly upset when you’d see him after games and he hadn’t played.

It was really good for him to have a year away this season and play in two different leagues.

It’s a massive experience for such a young lad and he’s done well with 16 goals in all competitions at both Anderlecht and PSV.

Those leagues are obviously nowhere near as tough as the Premier League, but it will only help with his confidence and I’m really happy he’s gone out and shown the maturity to play football – rather than sitting around and waiting for a chance.

For his development, it was the best thing that could have happened. I do think he’d have played a lot of games for Wolves – especially when Julen Lopetegui came in – and I think he’d have scored goals in that team as well.
