Wolves not currently considering Rayan Ait-Nouri departure

The French side have made contact over a loan move with an option to buy, but it is understood Wolves are not currently willing to let him go.

The 22-year-old fell out of favour with Julen Lopetegui last season and was expected to depart this summer, but the club are currently eager to hang on to him as they assess their options.

Left-back Ait-Nouri has been playing on the left-wing in training games so far in pre-season and was previously used there by Lopetegui briefly last season.

Nice are still interested in striking a deal and will keep pushing, but reports suggesting talks are advanced are believed to be wide of the mark.

Other French clubs are also monitoring Ait-Nouri, who could yet depart later in the summer, despite Wolves' current stance on him.

Having already sold Ruben Neves, Conor Coady and Nathan Collins, Wolves are still eager to offload a number of other players – such as fringe members of the squad Jonny Castro Otto and Dion Sanderson.

The deal to bring Matt Doherty back to the club on a free transfer is progressing and is still expected to go through.

Elsewhere on the pitch, Wolves are keen to bring in a centre-back to replace Collins and could also look to add in midfield and in attack depending on their business in offloading players.

The future of Fabio Silva is still uncertain, with several European clubs chasing a loan deal with an option to buy, but Wolves are keen to let Lopetegui assess the player in pre-season first before making a decision.

In addition, if the club do allow Silva to leave, they would prefer a permanent deal rather than a loan.

If Silva does depart, Wolves could dip into the market for a striker, with Sasa Kalajdzic, Matheus Cunha and Raul Jimenez the current options available.

Jimenez has been linked with a move to Turkey, but it is understood Wolves have yet to be contacted by a club. The player is currently recovering from a groin injury and has been training separately.

Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest have identified Jose Sa as a potential signing.

Reports suggest they are prioritising the signing of Dean Henderson, but have Sa on their list if a deal cannot be done with the Manchester United goalkeeper.

As the Express & Star revealed earlier this year, Wolves were already considering a shake-up in the goalkeeper department and could target another number one.

Following the arrival of Tom King as the new third choice shot-stopper, Matija Sarkic is expected to secure a move elsewhere this summer, with several Championship sides interested.
