Manchester United v Wolves preview: Matheus Cunha desperate to get one over old pal Antony
After his first taste of Premier League football, Wolves’ Matheus Cunha now needs to take the limelight as the season opener looms.
But the £43million January signing will not be the only player at Old Trafford tonight that is under pressure to perform.
Cunha and close friend Antony will line-up at opposite ends of the field, having spent much of their early careers standing side-by-side for their country.
Both players won gold medals for Brazil at the 2020 Olympics and have featured together for the senior side, where they have built this strong friendship.
Now heading into the 2023/24 season, which starts for Wolves at Manchester United tonight, both players need to prove their worth after big-money moves.
Although he played his part in keeping Wolves up last season, Cunha scored just two goals in 17 Premier League games.
