The 24-year-old Uruguay international is due in the Midlands for a medical later on Wednesday ahead of completing the move.

Bueno, who has made more than 100 appearances for Girona, will become Wolves’ first cash signing of the transfer window after the free transfer captures of goalkeeper Tom King and full-back Matt Doherty.

Adding a centre-back had been a top priority following the sales of Conor Coady and Nathan Collins earlier in the summer. Wolves are also hoping to seal the £5m capture of Paraguayan teenage winger Enso Gonzalez before Friday’s deadline.
