Liam Keen comment: Gary O’Neil bringing Wolves much-needed stability
With the last two performances and results, Wolves boss Gary O’Neil has done himself plenty of favours.
The noises coming out of the club following the draw at Luton and Carabao Cup defeat at Ipswich, where that they were fully behind O’Neil and his methods would come good.
Of course, modern football also has a strict necessity for results, but O’Neil has proved his worth in the last two games.
Time will tell if Wolves’ decision will pay off in the long-term, but in the short-term the club have a head coach that is showing some promising signs.
The performances against Manchester United and Liverpool earlier in the season showed a Wolves side still capable of taking on the league’s best, even if they did not get results.
In typical Wolves fashion, a poor display against Everton yielded Wolves’ first win of the season with a late goal, while a disastrous first half at Luton resulted in a hard-fought point with 10 men.
