Ashley Chesters and Oliver Farr will both chase their first ever appearance in golf's Open Championship tomorrow.

The pair will compete in local final qualifying for the third Major of the year, aiming to claim one of 12 places on offer in the star-studded field.

Hawkstone Park's England international Chesters faces a 36-hole marathon at Hillside fresh from finishing in a share of 26th position at the English Amateur Strokeplay Championship at Walton Heath at the weekend.

Ludlow's Farr, who turned professional last winter, flies the Shropshire flag at West Lancashire.

Shifnal's former Ryder Cup star Peter Baker joins Chesters at Hillside while Shrewsbury-born Scott Drummond is in action at Southport & Ainsdale.

Four courses near to the Open host venue of Royal Lytham will each host 96 players tomorrow.

The top three from each course will progress to Lytham for the main event in two weeks time.
