Ashley Chesters ready to make bow for county
England golf international Ashley Chesters will make his Shropshire & Herefordshire seasonal bow this weekend.
The 23-year-old from Hawkstone Park has missed the first three games of the Midland League season due to clashes with major amateur tournaments.
But Chesters has been named in the team of 10 for the trip to Little Aston to take on Staffordshire on Sunday.
Sam Tanner – who has become a member at Shifnal after his recent posting to RAF Cosford – has also been selected for a first team debut after winning his foursomes and halving his singles match in the second team victory over Worcestershire at Redditch last month.
S & H are currently fifth in the sixth team table but could yet finish in the runners-up spot should they win their final two matches.
The full team is: Andrew Stephenson (Wrekin, captain), Ashley Chesters (Hawkstone Park), Craig Simmonds (Patshull Park), Declan McDonnell, Jamie Brittain, Will Enefer (all Wrekin), Jon Devereux (The Herefordshire), Matt Birch (Market Drayton), Sam Tanner (Shifnal), Will Jones (Oswestry).
