The 30-year-old from Telford fired a five-under-par round of 67 – featuring an eagle and three birdies – to lie tied for fifth in the first round of the Kazakhstan Open.

The tournament is the latest event on the feeder Challenge Tour, with Busby – who plays out of The Shropshire Golf Centre – currently 35th on the order of merit.

The top 20 at the end of the season will graduate to the main tour.
