Rugby Union: Telford Hornets stung by Ludlow
Ludlow are still leading the race for glory in Midlands 3 West North after dishing out a derby-day hammering to Shropshire rivals Telford Hornets.
The testing handling conditions failed to slow Ludlow down as they crossed the line to score nine tries in a resounding 63-7 success.
Sam Wilkes and Jack Lines both touched down twice with Mikey Jones, Dan Rawlings, Jamie Simpson, Mark Williams and Ben Chamberlain also putting their names on the scoresheet.
Will Sparrow enjoyed a good day with the boot as he landed all nine conversions.
Jordan Jones raced in from 20 metres to register Hornets’ only try of the afternoon with Ben Lewis adding the extras.
The victory leaves Ludlow leading Cleobury Mortimer by four points.
Cleobury maintained their push for honours with a 33-7 success at home to Willenhall.
At the other end of the table, Clee Hill picked up a vital win in their bid to stave off relegation as they won 19-5 against Eccleshall at home.
Shrewsbury’s woes continued in Midlands 2 West North.
Promotion-chasing Camp Hill proved far too strong for their hosts as they powered to 42-3 success.
Market Drayton were well beaten, 34-0, away to Aldridge in Midlands West 5 North.
Oswestry’s hopes of landing a first win of the season in the South Lancs and Cheshire One division were frustrated by the weather as their home clash with Broughton Park was postponed due to a waterlogged pitch.
