A day for records in Alveley
Jordan Stamp and Lauren Draper were in record-breaking form in the Severn Valley Country Park 5 and 10k races at Alveley.
Record entries were received with the two events attracting over 350 runners.
Stamp stole the show in the longer distance men’s race as he powered to victory in a new course record time.
Stamp completed the tough off-road event, that included several steep climbs, in 40.19 minutes.
He took the honours from Paul Jolliffe, who crossed the finish line in 41.07, closely followed by Tri-Energy runner Philip Hunt in 41.29.
In the ladies’ race, Bridgnorth Running Club’s Lauren Draper extended her good form this year by taking the crown in a new best time of 45.36 (11th overall).
Elly Roberts, from Lawley Running Club, was second in 48.51, followed by Karen Gibbons (Bridgnorth RC) in 51.06.
Winner of the 5k race was Daniel Maskew in 18.24, while first female finisher was Sarah Roberts in 22.21.
Both races started and finished near the Severn Valley Country Park Visitors Centre and followed trails through woodlands, meadows and along the banks of the River Severn. Every finisher went home with a souvenir medal.
