The Newport racer has been untouchable this year and again blew away the competition with another double in Assen, Holland.

The 21-year-old is already looking at the possibility of racing on the world stage next year.

His dominance in the Moto3 class has seen him claim seven double victories in 10 rounds with his City Lifting team-mate, Jake Archer, the only rider to ever trouble the Shropshire star – but even he was eight and 12 seconds behind the champion in Assen.

“It’s a dream come true to become British champion and I’d like to thank my sponsors, family and team for everything,” he said.

“It’s been an incredible season and I am over the moon.

“The hard work starts now as next year I am hoping to get an opportunity at the World Championships but we will just have to wait and see what happens.”

The results left him on 445 points, with Archer too far behind to catch him, even with a round to go, on 383.

Archer, paying tribute to his team-mate, said: “Tom’s been phenomenal this season so congratulations to him.”

The final round takes place at Brands Hatch from October 13 to 15.
