Silverware dished out at Hollies Tennis Club
Hannah Jones and Chris Jackson were the toast of Hollies Tennis Club after successfully defending their titles, writes Jaikuran Randhawa.
Jones and Jackson retained their respective women’s and men’s singles crowns at the club’s annual championships.
Members had played knockout rounds during the summer with the winners advancing to the final day showdown for silverware which saw 11 titles up for grabs.
The newly-formed partnership of Claire Snaith and Jayne Haggis claimed the ladies’ doubles title after victory against last year’s winners Jones and Jane Huxley.
Men’s singles champion Jackson teamed up alongside Thierry Piangnee to wrestle the men’s doubles title from Mike Shrimplin and Jon Gilbert, who triumphed 12 months ago
It wasn’t all doom and gloom for Shrimplin as he partnered Pam Dodd to clinch the mixed doubles title.
The club’s new monthly tournament winners, who accumulated the most points during the five-month period were Alison Reid and Alan Scutt.
Next up the winners of the Veterans tournament were Dodd and Alan Scutt were the winners of the veterans’ tournament, which was played alongside the main competition.
The prestigious clubman and woman of the year awards, which were voted for by the club’s members, went to Yvonne Shrimplin and Les Rowland.
