Roberts on a roll with another win
Steve Roberts continued his run of good form at Monkhall Fisheries by heading some big weights in the Hawk Pool Open.
Stationed at peg one, Roberts (OAC) claimed an impressive victory by weighing in a 204-0-0 haul of carp to 4lb, taken close in on feeder and paste.
Wolverhampton’s Adam Morgan (Progen) followed with 190-8-0 of carp to 5lb and F1s to 2lb caught on poled pellet fished shallow and corn down the edge of peg three.
Third place went to Monkhall’s Carl Jones on peg 11, from where he poled pellet short and in the margins for 173-0-0 of carp to 4lb and F1s in the 3lb class. Fishery owner Ben Stanford (Monkhall/MH Floats) chalked up another triumph when he won the following day’s Swallow Pool Open.
Stanford took the spoils with 111-10-0 of carp to 6lb and F1s to 2lb, snared on poled paste close in and hard pellet presented well over from peg 15.
Runner-up, Neil Cook (Fiery Holes AC) poled pellet down the side of peg one to scale 94-10-0 of carp to 4lb and F1s to 3lb, leaving Monkhall’s Kev Hayes in third with 88-10-0 of carp to 5lb and F1s to 3lb from peg 17.
The latest 60-peg Angling Trust Riverfest 2018 Qualifier was held on the Bridgnorth AS Waters on the Linley Bank stretch of the River Severn in Bridgnorth.
Pete Sturmey (Mosella MGM) won the match to top A Zone with four barbel and one chub caught on hair-rigged big pieces of luncheon meat for 29-6-0 from peg 37 below Linley Island.
Match organiser Dave Lloyd (Bridgnorth AS) followed with another four barbel taken on legered luncheon meat for 25-12-0 at peg 102 down the alley to top B Zone.
Nigel Bull (Kamasan Starlets) took third with 14-10-0 from peg 10 also in B Zone.
The zone qualifiers all go through to the two-day final on November 3-4 on the River Severn in Shrewsbury.
