No panic from Newport

Newport have found themselves in a bad run of form after losing narrowly to both title rivals Scunthrope and away to a strong Sheffield side, who have only lost once at home this season.

It’s been 13 months since Newport last lost two on the bounce, but their director of Rugby and club coach Bob Adams is not stressing about the recent results.

“Nothing’s changed for us, we’ve just come on the wrong end of the scoreboard when it could have gone the other way round,” he said.

“We’re confident and still playing well and are just going to take it one game at a time.”

Despite sitting in the play-off places in second, seven points off the top, Adams says the belief and spirit in the camp hasn’t been affected.

“Nothing’s shifted, if anything its made us even more positive,” he added.

“We’re just going to go out against Bournville and try and get the win.”

Adams’s side won the reverse fixture 39-32 against Bournville back in November in a highly entertaining match.

They will be buoyed by the return to full fitness of Reece Morgan, who was only named on the bench against Sheffield, after five weeks out.

Toby Mann has also rejoined the squad for the clash at Forton Road after a few weeks out, but full-back Liam Holder is still a week away from match fitness.
