The Sundorne Castle men have already secured promotion and boast a perfect record of 18 wins from 18 league outings.

And victory at home in their top of the table clash with second-placed Burntwood will see Shrewsbury crowned champions.

“We have clinched promotion and now we want to tick off another target by winning the title,” said coach Simon Eviits.

“If we can do that tomorrow, then we can look at target number three and try to finish the season with a perfect record. But tomorrow is dominating our thoughts.

“Everyone is aware of just how big a game this is for us.

“It’s been a while since Shrewsbury were champions, back in the 80s, and now we have the chance to clinch the title on home soil, which is great.”

Evitts is expecting a tough game against a Burntwood side who have given themselves a chance of nicking the runners-up spot following their recent win over promotion rivals Old Saltleians.

“I didn’t expect Burntwood to beat Old Salts, to be honest, but that win has put them right in the mix,” added Eviits.

“It’s a huge game for them as well. They have given themselves a chance.

Confident

“They missed out on promotion on the last day of last season, so to do what they have this year shows they have plenty of character.

“They have some good young players who have been together for a couple of years and they are well coached.

“It’s going to be a tough game but we are ready and the lads are in confident mood.”

Both sides will go into the clash on the back of a free week with Evitts feeling the break came at the right time following a bruising encounter with Uttoxeter two weeks ago.

“We had a very tough game at Uttoxeter a couple of weeks ago and it took its toll,” said Evitts. “The break came at the right time. It gave the lads a chance to rest up and now they are ready to go tomorrow.

“We have had a couple of good training sessions and we are approaching the game the same way as we have approached all the others this season.”

Unfortunately for Evitts he won’t be leading the charge on the pitch tomorrow having picked up a shoulder injury in the win against Uttoxeter.

“I picked up some nerve damage in my shoulder against Uttoxeter and I won’t be playing,” confirmed Evitts.

“I wasn’t going to be selfish and try to play despite not being fully fit. We need everyone fit and ready for the challenge tomorrow. Winning the league comes first.”

Mike Venn will replace Evitts in the second row.
