Colts net another point towards title

High-flying Ludlow Colts stayed on course for the Herefordshire League Division One title despite being frustrated in their 1-1 draw at Hereford City.

They remain seven points clear at the top with four games in hand after nearest rivals Hinton Reserves drew 2-2 with Shobdon.

After an enforced break, the Colts made a sluggish start, and went behind in the 15th minute as the Hereford side made their early dominance count.

Spurred into action, the Colts saw Si Bradley force the keeper to tip his shot round the post and Nath Priday volleyed just over, while City themselves rattled the underside of the bar at the other end.

The Ludlow side, however, were back on terms five minutes before the break when Priday headed in Bradley’s free-kick.

The Colts bossed the second half, but were unable to find a way past the impressive Hereford keeper.

At the other end, their young keeper Regan Tonkinson hardly had a save to make in the second half in his second full game for the side.

Although not at their best, Ludlow remain unbeaten, and will look to take another step towards the title in Saturday’s trip to Hereford Lads Club reserves (2.30pm).
