They clinched the title in dramatic fashion when their final league clash with previously unbeaten Grasshoppers ended in a tie, with Reynald then claiming the silverware via a super over.

Reynald were put in to bat by Hoppers skipper Matty Cliffe, and despite a steady start from in-form captain Adie Hudson (19) and Ian Fox (16), struggled to accelerate against some tight bowling from Cliffe (0-18).

An injection of pace down the order from former Grasshopper Andy Harrison (35) helped the Grinshill men up to 124-5 as the experienced Joe Yapp also closed with tight figures of 26 off 4.

In reply, both Joe Yapp (38) and Paul Elton (33*) reached the retirement score but two quick wickets from Harrison (2-25) and a couple of run outs left them needing five off the last over.

The returning Yapp was run out, with Elton scoring three off the last ball to tie the scores. In the super over – bowled by Harrison – Yapp was again run out, but good running from Jack Case and Adam Williams helped the Hoppers post a challenging 13.

But Hudson and Harrison were able to work the angles against the bowling of Yapp, reaching their target with a ball to spare, and edge past Grasshoppers by a single point to claim the title.

Earlier, Reynald had enjoyed a more comfortable victory in the cup final against Montgomery A.

Hudson took 2-14 to help dismiss Monty for just 67 before top scoring with an unbeaten 31 as Reynald eased to their target with all their wickets in hand.
