Countdown to opening classic scramble meeting
The countdown has begun for the opening classic scramble meeting of the year.
The series, run by Cannock-based Acorns Motor Cycle Club, kicks off at Butterton, Staffordshire, on June 14.
Round two of the British championship will also form part of the meeting.
Riders will compete in six classes, including sidecars and the ever popular sportsmans race, which usually consists of older machines and riders.
Club secretary Andy Crabb said: "The sportsman race is a less competitive event and encourages many riders to reveal their precious racing bikes in an environment less likely to cause serious damage to their bikes – and bodies.
"We specialise in classic motorcycle scrambles and trials and many of our competitors and supporters reside in the Cannock and Stafford areas.
"The series promises excellent, high-speed racing of the highest standard – but that is only part of the event."
Mr Crabb will also be displaying prints of his artwork, which focus on the scrambling, dirt bike racing and snippets of local history, at Cannock Library throughout March.
The club meets weekly on Wednesday evenings at the Hollybush pub, in Seighford, Staffordshire.
