Josh Hustwick was given an early two-minute tripping penalty but returned soon after with a powerplay goal assisted by player coach Callum Bowley.

Tigers doubled their lead through Karol Jets in the ninth minute.

But a slashing penalty for Matt Price gave Sutton a chance to get back into the game and three goals within a minute and six seconds saw the visitors go ahead.

Birthday boy Brandon Anderton pulled Tigers level on 14 minutes but there was still time for Sutton to net twice before the end of a thrilling first period.

Bowley cut the deficit to one in the 25th minute but Sutton restored their two-goal advantage eight minutes later.

Anderton netted to make it 6-5 going into the final period and Callum Griffin bagged an equaliser in the 45th minute.

Neither team was able to score in the remaining minutes or in overtime, meaning the match went to penalties.

Tigers netminder Zack Brown saved Sutton’s first two penalties while Bowley and Jets scored for Tigers to seal the win.
