Having started their season with a resounding 12-3 success against Deeside Dragons on Saturday, Tigers put on their Sunday best to sink the Aces 9-3.

After a testing first period, the visiting Tigers took charge with hat-trick hero Jordan Jolly taking the lead role.

Player/coach Callum Bowley praised his side’s display while also reminding them that there is still room for improvement.

“It’s great to see us kick off our first weekend with four points and I have to say the lads put in two strong performances,” said Bowley.

“On Sunday, I thought we struggled to get a handle on the game in the first period and dictate the flow, as Altrincham came out hard and made it quite difficult for us.

“However, the second and third period was much better as we started to settle down. We cut out silly turnovers and we were scoring those second opportunities which was good to see.

“We still have plenty of areas to work on, but it’s a great start for us and we’ll look to take that momentum into next weekend.”

It was the Tigers who struck first through Charlie Hammerton but a physical Aces side responded with two goals in the space of four minutes.

The second goal saw the Aces scorer take Tigers’ net minder Zack Brown off his feet and the nets off their moorings. This was not the first time that the Aces were penalised for going in hard to the keeper, earlier in the period saw #66 Matt Price and #75 Liam Preece in the box after scuffles in front of the net after an Aces forward had issues stopping resulting in Zack being sprayed and an Ace in the box.

The visitors levelled matters with 16 seconds of the period left when Jolly bagged his first goal.

The second period saw Tigers take control with Bowley scoring two minutes into the period.

The Aces were punished for a series of penalties and spent a total of eight minutes in the penalty box.

Tigers found themselves with a five-on-three advantage more and capitalised with goals from Hammerton and Callum Griffin.

Two strikes in three minutes from Jolly saw complete his hat-trick as Tigers surged into a 7-3 lead.

Captain Karol Jets and Daniel Thomason wrapped up the scoring for Tigers in the final period.

Tigers 2 will be back in action at the weekend with another double header.

They face Widnes Wild on Saturday at Telford followed by a trip to face The Deeside Dragons on Sunday.
