Five-star Shawbury United keep it casual

A second-half brace from Matt Elsmore helped leaders Shawbury United to a comfortable 5-0 win over Wolverhampton Casuals.

Stuart Ellis opened the scoring in the first half and Lester Alderson had an effort ruled out for offside in the West Midlands League Premier Division.

Elsmore scored twice inside the first 15 minutes of the second period to put the hosts in total control.

Steve Faux made it 4-0 with a great solo run before new signing Liam Armstrong came on to head home a Tom Rogers cross.

Haughmond were also 5-0 winners as they got all their goals at bottom club Tipton Town in the second period.

Kevin Renshaw and Scott Graham put the visitors 2-0 up within 10 minutes of the restart.

Graham then added a third with a 30-yard screamer and Renshaw also got a second, before Dean Richards completed the scoring.

Adrian Stanton tasted defeat in his first game as Wellington Amateurs boss with a 3-1 home loss to Bewdley. Jay Evans put Ams ahead but defensive lapses proved costly.

Jason Pike, Josh Thomas, Glynn Coney and Liam Bood netted as AFC Bridgnorth won 4-1 at Black Country Rangers.

A late strike from sub Callum Bennett put St Martins back on track with a 3-2 victory over Team Dudley at Park Hall in Division One.

Although they started well, the hosts were behind on seven minutes when Miles Nettleford pounced on a stray pass to put lowly Dudley ahead.

The Saints remained a threat, with Karl Bailey and Dan Graham both denied by the goalkeeper when put through, while Bailey struck the post.

They were back on terms on the stroke of half-time as Jamie Hands latched onto a through ball before slotting past the shot-stopper.

Hands netted his second of the game as his headed effort squirmed through the grasp of the keeper on 70 minutes.

But the visitors were level 10 minutes later with the goal of the game, as Robert Elkins lashed home.

In the dying moments, some good interplay saw Shawn Melusi pick out Bennett to fire home.

Table-toppers Newport Town edged a nine-goal thriller against struggling Gornal Colts in Division Two.

Newport went ahead when Robbie Millington headed home a Cal Muir centre. After 32 minutes, Shane Thomas doubled the leaders' advantage following good link-up play with Millington.

Gornal pulled one back but almost immediately Millington squared and Thomas slotted home to make it 3-1.

The visitors pulled one back on the stroke of half-time but Thomas restored the two-goal cushion when he completed his hat-trick just after the restart.

Newport were stunned as Gornal fought back to make it 4-4 with 15 minutes remaining. But Thomas was on target again after 78 minutes to secure Newport's 17th win from 19 games.

Telford Juniors were on the end of a 3-1 defeat at Warstones Wanderers.
