Shawbury's form could see them home
Shawbury United manager Dave Richards hopes his side's form will be enough to see them over the line in the West Midlands Premier Division.
One point clear of AFC Bridgnorth at the top of the table with a game in hand, Shawbury have scored 15 goals and let in none in their last four games.
Their latest victory was a 2-0 home win over mid-table Wellington, but it was a nervy first half for the title-chasers.
Richards said: "It was a game of two halves really. Our keeper Nick Ashley made two fine saves to keep it nil-nil at the break.
"However, second half we were in full control. Matty Elsmore put us 1-0 up 10 minutes into the half and then Stuart Ellis made it 2-0.
"It's another game ticked off and another clean sheet which is pleasing this time of year.
"All we can do is take one game at a time and hopefully our form can see us through and over the line."
Shawbury have got four games remaining, including a run of three matches in the next six days that ends with a tough trip to third-placed Haughmond.
Determined to keep the pressure on, Bridgnorth thrashed Bromyard Town 6-0 away from home to stay within one point of the leaders thanks to braces from Simon Gregory and Josh Thomas.
Mark Clyde's team also travel to Haughmond on Wednesday this week.
Matt Burton's side may be out of the title race but they came from a goal down to pick up a hard-fought 2-1 away win at Dudley Town.
Scott Graham brought the scores level at the back post after Dan Perry had flicked on a long throw from Alex Johnson.
Craig Farr then pounced on a loose ball just before half-time to give Haughmond a lead they wouldn't relinquish.
Second-bottom Wellington Amateurs picked up their second win in three games with a 2-1 win at home to winless basement boys Tipton Town.
Anthony Roman opened the scoring on 22 minutes, despite loud protests from Tipton that the ball hadn't crossed the line, before Tom Bradley doubled the lead 11 minutes later.
The visitors rallied, and Joe Hanson eventually pegged the score back to 2-1 but the Ams held on to leave them with a serious chance of staying up.
Tipton's left-back was shown a late red card for throwing a punch at Kieran Buckley, who received a booking in the fracas.
Mid-table Ellesmere Rangers smashed Bilston Town Community 8-0 on their return to Beech Grove after a six month absence due to building work.
Shifnal Town tightened their grip on the Division One title – and gained revenge against the last team to beat them in the league back in November with a 3-2 win over Wednesfield.
Shifnal top the table on 72 points – 12 clear of Hereford Lads Club – and have two to play. They would have to lose them both to be overhauled in the title race.
It was Tom Hill who took the plaudits on Saturday with a hat-trick in a dominant second-half display.
After Will Wells saw his shot hit the post in the third minute, Shifnal fell behind six minutes later.
A horrible defensive mix-up saw defenders leaving a bouncing ball to each other and Reece Mason gleefully smashed the ball into an empty net from close range.
Hill went close for Shifnal after 13 minutes with a curling shot from 20 yards, which passed inches wide of the upright.
Wednesfield extended their lead in the 37th minute, when the ball came to Scott Powell unmarked, and he fired into the roof of the net from 20 yards.
With the play switching from end to end the home side grabbed the goal they badly needed a minute before the interval,
Wells hit the ball low across the box and Hill managed to divert it past goalkeeper Jon Foster.
The visitors lost some of their momentum after the break and slack defending led to the equaliser on 52 minutes.
Craig Love won the ball wide on the right and slipped it in to Hill, who jinked in before firing into the bottom corner of the net from a narrow angle.
Then, two minutes later, Nathan Jackson looped the ball across the box, and Hill rose to head his – and Shifnal's –third.
One-time leaders AFC Ludlow slipped to a 6-2 home defeat to Worcester Raiders.
Newport Town moved within one win of the title after a 2-1 win at Sikh Hunters.
Already promoted, they still have four games to play, and with their vastly superior goal difference over second-placed Old Wulfrunians.
Manager Nathan McAuley knows another win would effectively seal the title.
All the goals came in the first half with left-back George Hill opened the scoring against the division's back-markers, before Joe Cuff doubled their lead.
However, Hunters got one back before half-time to give them hope of an unlikely victory.
Town have won 20 of their 24 games so far and they travel to Wolverhampton United tomorrow.
He looked for the three points in confident mood before they make trip to Wonder Vaults on Saturday.
Telford Juniors, fourth in the Division Two table, went down 3-2 at Wrens Nest Reserves.
