Newport Town eighth wonders for the title
Champions Newport Town thrashed Wonder Vaults 8-2 as they picked up the West Midlands League Division Two trophy in style.
At half-time there was no sign of the goal glut to come, with visitors Newport only 1-0 up through Ryan Price.
But an incredible purple patch of seven goals in just 30 second-half minutes saw them win at a canter.
Liam Bould, Joe Cuff and Simon Jackson all scored twice – the latter notching his 100th for the club – with Carl Muir adding the eighth in the last minute before the hosts netted an even later consolation.
Newport have two league games left against Red Star Alma and Malvern Town U21s and face Warstone Wanderers in the League Cup quarter-finals on Saturday.
Boss Nathan McAuley said: "It was a proud day for Newport receiving the trophy before the game followed by a fantastic performance from everyone.
"The lads are in full spirits and determined to finish the season on a high."
