After enjoying a terrific campaign, which brought four trophies, the duo want to concentrate on off-field matters and will remain at the club as directors.

Now former Ellesmere Rangers boss Stevens takes charge as the Mercian League Premier Division champions go up to North West Counties League Division One.

Current player-coach Graham Dyke steps up to assistant manager. Stevens said: "I've had a season out of the game and was itching to get involved again.

"But it had to be at the right club. I work in Oswestry and, after speaking to the club directors, I knew that this was a fantastic opportunity that was too good to miss. I can't wait to get started."

Stevens has managed Ellesmere Rangers in the West Midlands Premier League and Llanrhaeadr in the Cymru Alliance, has extensive links with youth players in Shropshire and excellent knowledge of local football talent.

And Dyke's coaching experience should help ensure a smooth transition to life in the North West Counties League.

As well as the league, Town also won the Mercian League Cup and Shropshire Challenge Cup and also retained the Commander Ethelston Cup.
