Hundreds due at Ellesmere 10k race
Hundreds of athletes are expected to head to Shropshire tomorrow for the third annual Ellesmere 10k race.
Last year's event attracted 500 competitors and organisers Oswestry Olympians are hoping for a similar turn-out this time around.
The race will start at 11am from Lakelands School and runners are expected to travel from as far as Cumbria, the Isle of Wight and Bognor Regis to take part.
Runners will compete in open men's and women's categories with additional categories ranging from 40-years-and-over to 75-and-over for men and from 35-years-and-over to 75-years-and-over for women.
Junior male and female categories span the 16-19 age group.
Organiser Paul Davies said: "Last year we had 482 competitors taking part and this year we have had 485 sign up so we are hoping for another really good turn out.
"It takes a long time to plan but it helps identify Oswestry Olympians and it helps put the area on the map."
Entries for this year's race are now closed.
