Versatile racing star Overturn, owned by Telford businessman Tim Leslie, is due to make his debut as a chaser later this week.

The flying eight-year-old, trained by Donald McCain near Whitchurch, has been entered at Uttoxeter on Friday, with an alternative engagement at Wetherby the following day.

The decision is likely to depend on the ground conditions at both venues.

Overturn is a prolific winner both on the Flat and over hurdles and in May finished second in the Chester Cup behind stable-made Ile De Re.

McCain said:?"Overturn is entered at a couple of places later in the week.

"I've been happy with his schooling and will make a decision taking into account the ground conditions."

In a preview visit to his yard earlier this week, McCain said there had been "soul-searching" over whether the popular runner should be tried over fences.

"He's schooled really well and I always expected him to as everything you ask him to do he does with loads of enthusiasm," he added.

"The signs are positive and if he takes to fences he could be very exciting."
