Telford Tigers eager to bite back
Telford Tigers will be looking to bounce back from an opening day setback this weekend when they face an English Premier League double-header against the Swindon Wildcats and Basingstoke Bison.
The Tigers started their league campaignn with a 5-1 reverse at the hands of title hopefuls Manchester Phoenix in front of a bumper crowd.
Phoenix cashed in on a number of Tigers mistakes in the first period and were four goals to the good before Nathan Salem found the net for Tigers.
Tigers travel to Swindon on Saturday before entertaining Bison, who include former Telford old-boys Tim Burrows and Tomas Karpov in their line-up, at Telford Ice Rink on Sunday (5.30pm).
Player-coach Tom Watkins will be looking for a positive response to last week's setback.
"We made some mistakes in the first period which really hurt us and made it an uphill battle from there," he said.
"We need to learn from those mistakes and take our chances in front of goal too. I thought we played well in patches, the crowd really got behind us and we need to build on that."
