'The Count' again takes on one of his Lakeside successors and the only man to beat him in the tournament so far, 5-3 in the first group game, live on Sky Sports at Wolverhampton Civic Hall.

The 45-year-old, who is based in Aqueduct, has since beaten Dave Chisnall and Michael Smith, before a dramatic last-leg victory from 6-1 down to beat Simon Whitlock 10-9.

Hankey hadn't played competitive darts in months before the Grand Slam after a series of health issues. He suffered a minor stroke on stage at the event last year, was later diagnosed with diabetes, and suffered whiplash in a car crash two months ago.

On the Waites clash, Hankey said: "It could take about 17 hours – I am going to slow him down so much. I know I can beat Scott, I have done it so many times in the past but he's beaten me, too.

"It's down to me now, it's like I have been given a second lease of life in this game."
