Video: Telford Tigers are clear at the summit
Boss Tom Watkins urged his players to ignore the pressure to score early in games after watching Telford Tigers go six points clear at the top of the English Premier League.
Saturday saw Telford collect a dominant 8-2 victory away at Sheffield Steeldogs, before beating basement side Bracknell Bees 3-2 at home the next day.
Those victories mean the Tigers are now clear leaders of the English Premier League, with second-placed Basingstoke Bison having slipped up in Guildford on Sunday night.
But both matches were notable for goalless first periods from Telford – with the Bracknell game being the fifth consecutive match that statistic has occurred.
Head coach Watkins, however, spent much of Sunday's game telling his players to discount that pressure.
He said: "I'm not sure if it is our natural mentality, that we think we should be in front early on.
"There's an edge of frustration, but we kept on reminding the guys that they've got enough quality not get frustrated.
"We were telling them to stay with it. We dominated a lot of possession, but Bracknell made it very difficult.
"To find a way to win, though, that is what's really important and it was a great shot from Miller for the final goal."
On Saturday night, a goalless first period was followed by a strike from Peter Szabo on 28 minutes, before Nathan Salem put his side two goals ahead.
Sheffield pulled a goal back, although Silverthorn and Salem gave The Tigers a 4-1 cushion by the second interval.
The third period saw Salem complete his hat-rick after just 60 seconds, but the Steeldogs struck once again to make it 5-2. Further goals from Dan Davies, Joe Miller and Adam Taylor sealed victory for Telford.
Watkins said: "We have to remember that Sheffield have a lot of very good players, who can score goals. The way we came out in the second and third periods was very pleasing."
Sunday's game, meanwhile, saw the Bees go two goals ahead by the end of the first period, as The Tigers struggled to contain the Berkshire outfit.
Goals from Dan Davies and Jonathan Weaver steadied the ship in the second period, while Miller's late strike secured two valuable points.
Watkins added: "Games like that will keep my team honest. We can't just turn up and expect teams to roll over.
"We had to fight for our points and next week will be no different."
The Tigers travel to Swindon Wildcats on Saturday, before Sheffield Steeldogs visit on Sunday (5.30pm).
