The Schools semi-finals for Bradley Thompson
Shropshire's Bradley Thompson will vie for a place in the England Schools national final with a last four clash in Evesham on Sunday.
The teenager, who represents his step-dad Tristan Davies' Donnington Boxing Club, comes in fresh after a bye past the quarter-finals,
He now steps through the ropes with Cameron Lonsdale-Quinn, from Horden in Peterlee, at the De Montfort Sports Hall this weekend.
Thompson made the national stages after claiming the West Midlands vest in Class B, for boxers born in 2001, at 34kg earlier this month.
He scored a good points victory over Ryan Humphries, from the Second City gym in Birmingham, to progress to within one fight of a decider.
Donnington will have a presence in the national final, regardless, with the towering Carlos Stewart's bout upgraded to a straight title contest.
He resides in Class A (2002) at a whopping 72kg and was scheduled to have met Jamie-Lee Davis, from Stainforth in Doncaster, this weekend.
But, with no entries in the other half of the semi-final, they will now meet to decide a national champion the following Saturday, at a yet to be determined venue in Sheffield.
Telford's Simran Kaur is also going to the steel city as another handed a straight final, which could hand her a national title in her first bout of competition boxing.
The Hadley Learning Community pupil, who appears under the banner of Merridale in Wolverhampton, has yet to be matched so far in the tournament.
But now waiting for all-or-nothing affair is Jackie Birch, from St Mary's of Kent, at 43kg in Class B on the female side of proceedings.
Club-mate and fellow Telford girl Kara Murray is hoping to come down two weights and keep alive her dreams of going for glory in Sheffield.
There's no opponent throughout for the Thomas Telford School pupil at 62kg in Class B, so it's been suggested that she drop to 59kg and Irlam's Daisy Preston (56kg) moves up.
Wellington's Raheem Mohammed, another from Merridale, bowed out at 48kg in Class B after travelling to Birmingham's Great Barr Leisure Centre for Sunday's quarter-finals.
Mohammed couldn't replicate his exciting split decision win over Stoke Staffs Lewis Proffitt for area honours, going down by unanimous decision to Jimmy Egan's protege Samson Burton.
