His exploits lifted him two places to 47th on the Pro Tour Order of Merit, while he's now outright rather than joint 48th in the overall standings,

The Shropshire thrower was first to the oche on Friday afternoon and only Jamie Caven could halt his charge, with a tight 6-5 result yesterday afternoon.

Pallett had broke his throw twice lead 2-1 and 3-2 early on but then trailed 4-3 and 5-4, having to etch off 73 to take the match to the last leg.

And that's where he was just nudged out by the follow Midlander, who is originally from Leicester, at the Evenementenhal in Venray.

Both were down to a double when Caven landed on five to squeeze through to the quarter-finals, despite his inferior average of 89.15 to Pallett's 93.11.

But it was against James Wade on Saturday night where Pallett produced his finest darts and he saved the best for last, taking out 124 to seal victory.

He took advantage of an off day for the world No 6 and Premier League regular, whose average dipped to 88.82 compared to Pallett's 91.52.

Still, his 6-4 win was considered an upset and mirrored Pallett's first round win over Dimitri van den Bergh, which was by the same score-line.
