The Shropshire thrower travelled to the Victoria Stadium for the Gibraltar Darts Trophy but failed to make much headway,

He was up against it due to the imperious form of first round opponent Daryl Gurney, who averaged over 102 during their Friday afternoon clash.

Pallett trailed 3-0 before staging a fightback to move within a leg of parity, with the next two going with the throw to make it 4-3.

Gurney then clicked into gear again to come away with a 6-4 victory, before going out 6-3 to Peter Wright in the second round.

Pallett was guaranteed £1,000 in prize money just for taking part, but he's now fell at the first hurdle in four of his last six PDC tournaments.

The previous five came in the Players Championship, which resumes in Coventry on May 21-22. Pallett will attempt to qualify for the fifth and sixth European Tour events the previous day.
