Rutter and the Bathams-SMT Racing team were in action with round six of the Pirelli National Superstock 1000 Championship in Norfolk.

The Bridgnorth rider was again in imperious form as he claimed an excellent third-place finish in yesterday's race.

He lined up on pole position – his first since Silverstone in 2010 – for the race. However, BMW rider Ian Hutchinson took the lead, going on to take the win.

Keith Farmer claimed second place and Rutter third on the run in to the line to take his second successive third place finish.

Rutter said: "The bike was working great all weekend. I got a perfect start and, when Hutchy came b,y I thought I'd get on to his rear wheel and together the two of us could edge away.

"No sooner was I thinking that though, then Keith came by and I thought we were both down."

Round seven of the series takes Rutter to one of his favourite circuits on the calendar, Thruxton in Hampshire, with the meeting taking place on July 22-24.
