Graham Kitchener?marked his senior England debut with a try as Stuart Lancaster's side secured a 54-26 victory over the Southern Barbarians yesterday.
Former Shropshire schoolboy Kitchener, who attended Adams' Grammar School in Newport, touched down on the hour and the Leicester Tigers man was also the creator for Christian Wade's second of his three tries.
Thomas Waldrom also scored twice as England ran in eight tries, but they conceded four of their own and endured some uncomfortable moments on a hot afternoon.
And Lancaster, who rested most of his first choice team felt his side would have to improve their discipline for the second Test against the Springboks in Johannesburg on Saturday
"Mixed emotions I think would be the fair assessment, he said.
"It's very difficult coming here playing against that type of side and also the altitude. I think the boys learned a lesson, I think the boys in the stand in particular learned some lessons about how we are going to need to manage it on Saturday.
