Shrewsbury are denied by injury to referee
Shrewsbury will be hoping it is fourth time lucky after their latest attempt to play struggling Wednesbury was scuppered by an injury to the referee.
The side, who are aiming for promotion from Midlands Three West (North), had seen two previous attempts to get this fixture on frustrated by the wet weather.
And their third attempt to play the game also proved fruitless on Saturday when the referee was unable to continue because of a calf injury.
Shrewsbury skipper Simon Evitts said: "We were 50 minutes into the game winning 27-12 when the referee strained his calf.
"He got it strapped up and tried to carry on. If a game gets to 60 minutes you can take the result but he pulled up after 57 minutes so the game was cancelled.
"Neither side wanted to finish but he just couldn't carry on so the game is going to be replayed in two weeks time."
A Tim Andrews brace and an Alex Taplin try, all converted by James Halliday, had put the visitors into the ascendancy.
Halliday had also kicked two penalties and Shrewsbury, who had shipped two triesin reply - one converted - had been chasing a fourth try to seal a bonus point victory.
Wednesbury, who remain third from bottom of the division, also had the incentive of chasing at least a losing bonus point to chase to ensure they did not slip into the drop zone. Fortunately for them, second-from-bottom Market Drayton had to concede a second straight home walkover defeat in as many weekends against Burntwood.
The Shropshire side had been unable to raise a side for the previous weekend's trip to Edwardians.
They had been hopeful of being able to fulfil Saturday's trip to Burntwood but a long injury list was compounded by unavailability, leaving them again unable to field a side.
Club chairman Nick Minshall said: "There were some Army personnel missing because they were on parade for St Patrick's Day, and those early-season injuries have taken their toll.
"When we get other injuries on top of that it compounds the situation."
