The 32-year-old, who was capped 70 times by her country, was the guest speaker at the club's annual event.

Alphonsi told how a PE teacher at her school in London inspired her to become a top class rugby player.

Born with a club foot, she could have qualified as a Paralympic athlete but instead chose to take on able-bodied players.

She became one of the best back row forwards in the world and helped England to World Cup glory in France in 2014.

She retired two years ago from rugby but was snapped up by ITV as a pundit for the Rugby World Cup and Six Nations series and has quickly made a name for herself.

Alphonsi dished out numerous awards, with Will Sparrow landing the Player of the Season accolade after scoring an amazing 498 points during the season, while helping the team to third in the league.

The young player of the year went to Stefan Andow, who also took the Player's Player award.

Development XV player of the year was Rhys Perkins, while the Clubman of the Season award went to Peter Bayliss.

The outstanding contribution to mini and junior rugby winner was James Bridge, while the President's award went to Peter England.
