The appointment follows a challenging season for the Sundorne Castle men, who finished rock bottom of Midlands Two West (North) last season, losing 20 of their 22 league outings.

Chris Brayne was appointed to the helm in October, following the departure of Tim Pickard.

Evitts, a former Shrewsbury skipper, stepped up as Brayne’s player-assistant but has now been handed the job of helping the team stabilise following their disappointing relegation, where they are set to compete in the Midlands Three West (North) next season.

Evitts also helps coach girls’ taster sessions at the club, and took to social media site Twitter to proudly announce the news, stating: “Very proud to have been appointed senior head coach @ShrewsburyRugby. Work has already started on the 2017-18 season.”
