Telford Tigers have signed long-serving forward Scott McKenzie, as the club looks to complete its home-grown roster.

McKenzie, 28, was one of the first players to arrive at the newly-reformed side in 2009, and has been a virtual ever-present since. He collected 53 points in 49 games last season, and led the Tigers to a first EPL play-off appearance in 17 years.

Tigers head coach Tom Watkins earmarked McKenzie's goalscoring qualities as a major part of the successes enjoyed during the 2013/14 campaign.

He said: "Scott's role might change a little next season, but we have a lot of belief in him. He is a big part of the team and capable of scoring some huge goals.

"He did that really well last season and was instrumental in the success we enjoyed after Christmas.

"Despite having a slightly different role, Scott will have a big input for us on the ice."

Watkins added: "I am a big believer in guys who understand what playing for the Tigers is all about. Scott does a lot in the schools, with the Hockey Zone programme and has a lot of commitment.

"The offensive talent he has is excellent and we can use those skills to score some big goals."
