In-form Telford Tigers roar to double success
Telford Tigers maintained their perfect start in the English Premier League last night with a 5-4 win over Sheffield Steeldogs.
A hard-fought encounter at Telford Ice Rink followed Saturday's 6-2 victory against Guilford Flames in Surrey.
Those results mean Tom Watkins' side remain joint leaders with Milton Keynes and Hull, although the Pirates are ahead on goal difference.
Last night's game started with a goal after just five minutes, as Telford took an early 1-0 lead through Jason Silverthorn. But the visitors hit back almost straight away and ended the opening period on level terms.
Michal Satek broke that deadlock for the Tigers on 27 minutes, before Matty Davies and Corey McEwen made it 4-1.
Sheffield pulled the score back to 4-2 just moments moments later and made it 4-3 with 10 minutes remaining.
Telford again opened up a two-goal cushion on 54 minutes, thanks once more to Satek, only for the Steeldogs to hit back almost immediately. In a dramatic closing five minutes, Sheffield removed their netminder in favour of an extra attacker, but were unable to find an equaliser.
