He is known as Spidercat and judging by this video performance it's clear to see why.

It's all in a day's work for the agile moggy, known more commonly as Charlie the cat, who has a novel way of getting home.

He leaps straight up a 15ft wall onto the balcony of the flat in Scotland.

Spidercat is prepared to risk all of his nine lives every day and can often be seen climbing the wall to gain entry to his owner's flat in Denny, Falkirk.

Spidercat, rather sensibly, likes to leave the flat by the front door, but is not so keen to retrace his steps and get back into the building in the same way.

First he stops and sits at the foot of the wall, biding his time and waiting for his moment to pounce.

Then he makes his move, leaping up the wall and using his claws to "run" up the side of the building. And finally he has made it, and joins the other moggies waiting on the balcony for him to perform his stunt.

Passers-by have watched in amazement at the creature's agility. The animal has even made a name for himself by appearing on film on the website YouTube.

Online viewers have logged on in their thousands to witness Spidercat's latest feats of wall-scaling.

Owner Emma Smith said she was amazed at the attention her cat had attracted since he began climbing the wall.
