Pups with 'ruff' start given play space thanks to generous donation
Welshpool-based animal rescue, Forget-Me-Not, has created a safe play space for cruelty case dogs, thanks to the generosity of national artificial lawn experts, PermaLawn.
Forget-Me-Not Animal Rescue works to foster and rehabilitate a range of animals from hens and turkeys to rabbits and dogs with an aim to rehome them to a loving environment. After recently taking in two cruelty-case rottweiler-cross dogs, who had suffered in the most awful circumstances, the rescue was desperate to provide them with a safe but secure space to play. PermaLawn donated pet-friendly turbo grass, to weather-proof the play area ground.
Sarah, manager at Forget-Me-Not, said: “These dogs have to relearn how to be good pets and companions and require the right space to explore. Having seen another rescue centre create an effective area using artificial lawn we knew it was the right choice for our pups. The biggest challenge with any outside space at the rescue is ensuring it doesn’t become a mud bath as soon as it rains, and pet-friendly artificial lawn is a fantastic solution for this.
“Fern and Bracken aren’t the only two that will benefit from the new area either - we’ll be able to give all our rescue dogs a weather-proof space to use and help rehabilitate them ready for their forever homes. We’re incredibly grateful to the PermaLawn team for the donation and support with installation guidance too, to ensure the lawn’s longevity.”
The vegan-based rescue is seeing a sharp increase in the number of animals needing support, with many dogs being abandoned or left emaciated, with a lack of education surrounding bigger breeds. Recent legal changes around XL Bullies have fuelled misinformation and demand for the rescue’s services continues to increase.
Adrian Buttress, managing director at PermaGroup, said: “When we were contacted by Forget-Me-Not we knew our product range was the right solution for their outdoor space. With the 38mm Turbo Lawn it’s got a 10-year warranty, meaning they can rest assured they won’t need to replace it for years to come and most importantly it’s pet-friendly, so it is completely safe to use. The work done by Forget Me Not and other rescues is so challenging but so important, and if we can play even a small role in making the lives of these dogs better, then that’s all we can hope for.”
