Swim teacher wins award for supporting young swimmers across the area

The Local Star Teacher award is presented to an inspirational individual who excels in teaching young children and babies to swim and receives glowing reviews from the parents and children they teach. Having joined the Puddle Ducks team in September 2017, it’s been Zara’s ability to get to know each child she teaches in order to build trust and confidence, which has made her a hit with children and parents alike!  

The winning nomination was made by Harriet Trevor-Allen, whose daughter Theodora swims with Zara. She commented: “Zara's expertise, patience, and kindness have made our swimming lessons a joy. I am scared of water myself, I didn't learn to swim until I was an adult, and still don't like getting my face wet in the bath! It's so important to me that our daughter, Theodora, has a happier and safer relationship with water and that is exactly what Zara has kickstarted for us. 

“Zara's positive energy is infectious. She always puts me at ease and helps Theodora get the most out of every lesson even on her grumpiest of days - from making her giggle to giving her a duck to chew when she's teething. Zara meets babies and parents where they are to build their confidence and skills. We look forward to our lessons every week and, thanks to Zara, are now lifelong Puddle Ducks fans. I can't wait to watch Theodora progress through your levels!”

Zara, who lives in Claverley, commented: "I’m absolutely delighted to have won this award. My job is so rewarding and recognition such as this reiterates the reasons why I do my job and is a real boost that I’m so grateful for and proud of!”.
