Persimmon Homes team featured on careers and sustainability panel at Telford school
A Telford-based school has recently hosted a local housing developer, who was featured on a panel discussing careers and sustainability.
Persimmon Homes West Midlands Engineering Manager, Kate Mackenzie, spoke to A-Level students at Thomas Telford School about the opportunities available within the housebuilding industry and how the sector is driving sustainability.
The event helped to introduce the pupils to a selection of jobs, sharing experiences and stories with them as well as advising them on the current job market. Kate aimed to provide pupils with a realistic insight into different career paths; giving information which will, in time, help them to make informed decisions about their careers.
Kate Mackenzie, Engineering Manager at Persimmon Homes West Midlands, said: “What we do is about so much more than building quality homes; it’s also about ensuring that we support the workforce of the future and create jobs in the communities we build in.
“It was great to deliver this talk to pupils at Thomas Telford School to showcase the variety of career options available in housebuilding.”
Persimmon Homes is proud to be an accredited Living Wage Foundation employer and directly employs more than 5,000 people and supports around 86,000 jobs in the construction sector.
Also committed to training schemes of the highest standard, Persimmon Homes has been recognised for its apprenticeship schemes, demonstrating the developer’s success at training traditional site skills as well as its drive to grow talent throughout the business.
