Shropshire college sisters hit all the right notes
Sisters studying at Shropshire’s award-winning independent school have hit all the right strings and keys in an international music competition.
Winnie and Annie Sedtinwong, both in year 11 at the Acton Burnell-based international Concord College, achieved their most recent success in the UK International Music Competition 2024 About/UK Music Competition.
Winnie was awarded first prize in the National Music Category and Annie took second place in the same classification.
The sisters, who are from Thailand, played the traditional Thai instrument the khim. The girls also combined in the duo music category with a combination of the khim and piano.
Said Mrs Hannah Perrins-Latter, Concord College Head of Music: “Winnie and Annie’s success in the UK International Music Competition is a fantastic achievement and a testament to their continued hard work and enthusiasm for performing.
“Both students have clearly dedicated their time to developing and honing their technical and interpretative skills and they should be thorough commended that their talents have been recognised through these prestigious awards.”
She added: “To produce such a creative performance which combines the forces of both the piano and khim demonstrates the girls’ knowledge and understanding of both these instruments. Their performance is a true celebration of musical traditions from around the world.”
