This much-loved community event is set to take place on Friday, 10th, and Saturday, 11th January 2025, kick-starting the hospice's fundraising efforts for the new year.

In a display of community spirit, volunteers from local businesses will brave the cold January weather to collect real Christmas trees from supporters across Wrexham, Flintshire, Llangollen, and Oswestry. These trees will be recycled in environmentally friendly ways, with some transformed into garden mulch, animal bedding, or even a post-Christmas treat for local farm animals like alpacas and goats.

In 2024 the Christmas Tree collection raised an impressive £18,974.47 for the local charity. This campaign not only supports patient care and family services at Nightingale House Hospice but also benefits the wider community.

This initiative is made possible by the generosity and hard work of volunteers from companies including Read Construction, Rivington Haulage, Advanced Roofline, MPH Construction, and many others. Additionally, Thorncliffe Building Supplies, TG Group, ASH Waste, and P&A Group are partnering with the hospice to recycle the collected trees.

Mikey Jones, Community Fundraiser at Nightingale House Hospice, shared his excitement about the upcoming collection, he said: “This is the first time I will be organising the Christmas Tree Collection, and I’m really looking forward to it. The support from our community, local businesses, and volunteers is incredible. It’s heart-warming to see so many returning to help year after year.

“Without their dedication, this wouldn’t be possible. If you see them collecting, give them a smile and wave – it means the world!”

“We are also looking to expand the volunteer drivers in the Shropshire area to collect more trees. If you would like to volunteer your time as a driver, please get in touch by phoning the hospice on 01978 316800.”

Supporters wishing to have their real Christmas trees collected can book online at just-helping.org.uk/register-tree or contact the fundraising team at 01978 314292. Bookings close at 11:59pm on Monday, 6 January 2025, and there’s no minimum donation required – every penny makes the world of difference to Nightingale House Hospice, helping the local charity to continue providing patient care to patients and their families living with life-limiting conditions in the community.
