Local children’s hospice receives substantial grant from The Cadbury Foundation
Hope House Children's Hospices has been awarded a grant of £8,000 by The Cadbury Foundation, following a selection by local employees at Mondelēz International.
Providing vital care and support, Hope House helps children with life-threatening conditions to live their best lives. The hospices support children and their families across Shropshire, Cheshire and North and Mid Wales. Hope House’s services include, but are not limited to, respite, emotional support, and end-of-life care, ensuring no family faces these challenges alone.
This year, to mark the 200th anniversary of the iconic Cadbury brand, a special roadshow for colleagues toured locations across the UK, including Chirk, inviting them to vote for a local charity to receive a share of £200k from The Cadbury Foundation.
Hope House received the most votes from local colleagues and was awarded the £8,000 grant. The funding will help the charity introduce a brand-new outdoor play area for the children and families it supports.
Vanessa Baldry, Trusts Manager at Hope House Children's Hospices, said: “We are currently raising the funds needed to develop the hospice gardens, starting with the creation of ‘The Gathering Heart’, a brand-new outdoor play area at Hope House.
"This will include wheelchair accessible pathways, sensory planting and play equipment specifically for children with disabilities to ensure that all children can have fun and enjoy playing in the fresh air safely while in our care.
“This grant will help us to reach our fundraising goal for the gardens and this support means the world to us and the children and families we support.”
The Cadbury Foundation, which is celebrating its 90th anniversary next year, was set up in 1935 in recognition of Richard and George Cadbury and their investment in the welfare of their employees and the local community, and to continue their work.
Kelly Farrell, community affairs manager at Mondelēz International, added: “As we celebrate the incredible 200th anniversary of Cadbury’s, we’re also celebrating two centuries of giving back - investing in our communities and making a real difference.
“Carrying on the spirit of the Cadbury brothers is something we’re deeply proud of, as we continue to support amazing charities and projects like Hope House that positively impact countless lives each year.”
